Can't add a picture or make a backup
Symptoms
Section titled “Symptoms”- In a reminder, you tap the camera icon and choose New picture or Select picture, but no picture gets attached.
- Local backups fail, or the restore list is empty.
Why it happens
Section titled “Why it happens”Life Reminders saves pictures and local backups in a storage folder that you selected when you first set up the app. Android can remove the app’s access to this folder, for example:
- after you move to a new phone or restore your phone from a backup,
- after an Android update,
- if the folder was moved, renamed or deleted.
When access is lost, the app can no longer save pictures or backups.
How to fix it
Section titled “How to fix it”Do this on each device where the problem happens (phone and tablet):
- Open Life Reminders, open the side menu and tap Settings.
- Tap Backup options.
- Tap Local storage folder.
- In the window that opens, select the folder you used before (it is often called LifeReminders). If it no longer exists, create a new folder, for example inside Documents.
- Tap Use this folder, then Allow.
- Go back to your reminder and add the picture again.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Android does not let apps use the root of the storage or the Download folder. Select or create a folder inside them instead.
- If possible, select the same folder as before. If you choose a different folder, pictures that were already attached to your reminders may no longer show.
- Still not working? Contact us and include your Android version and the app version (side menu → About).
