iOS troubleshooting

Reminders are not arriving as notifications

  1. Check notification permission. Open the iOS Settings app → Life Reminders → Notifications. Make sure Allow Notifications is enabled and that Banners or Alerts is selected.
  2. Check Do Not Disturb / Focus modes. If a Focus mode is active, notifications may be silenced. Go to Settings → Focus and verify that Life Reminders is allowed through your active Focus settings.
  3. Check Background App Refresh. Go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh. Make sure it is enabled for Life Reminders. Without this, iOS can prevent the app from processing reminders in the background.

Notifications stopped working after an iOS update

Section titled “Notifications stopped working after an iOS update”

iOS updates can reset app permissions or adjust background refresh settings.

After updating iOS, check:

  • Settings → Life Reminders → Notifications (re-enable if toggled off)
  • Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Life Reminders (re-enable if toggled off)

Then open the Life Reminders app once to let it re-register its reminders with the system.

Known issue: iOS 18 background refresh throttling

Section titled “Known issue: iOS 18 background refresh throttling”

On iOS 18.0, Apple tightened background app refresh limits, which can cause reminders to arrive late (by 15–30 minutes) or not at all when the device has been idle for a while.

Workaround: Ensure Background App Refresh is set to Wi-Fi & Cellular (not “Off” or “Wi-Fi only”) in Settings → General → Background App Refresh.

If issues persist after iOS 18.x updates, contact [email protected] with your iOS version and device model.

Open Settings → Life Reminders → Notifications and check that Sounds is enabled. Also verify that your device is not in silent mode (the physical ring/silent switch on the side of the iPhone).
